Holi is celebrated at the end of winter on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunar calendar, which marks the spring,

Holi is one of India’s most important festivals and is often called the ‘Festival of Colors’. Like other major festivals like Dasara and Diwali, the festival of colors is celebrated on different dates every year. People usually smear each other with colors for the day. Delicious gujiyas and the service of ‘bhang’ also lead to more celebrations.

Holika Dahan is an essential part of the Holi celebration. It is performed in Holika’s memory and wins the good over the bad. Holi is also known as Dal Jatra or Dal Purnima in some states like Odisha.

Holi is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Falgun. It is also called the Spring Festival because it marks the arrival of spring.
